Different HA Connection Brokers in the same network

Hello,
I have a questions surrounding Remote Desktop Services in Windows Server 2012 R2 that I hope can be answered.
I have already deployed Session Based Remote Desktop Service with HA Connection Brokers and Session Host Servers gathered in farm in my local subnet, may I deploy a second/third (with different deployment configuration) Session Based Remote Desktop Service with HA Connection Brokers with own SH servers farm within the same network.
Are there restrictions or recommendations regarding deployment a few RDS within one subnet?

How to Identify Connection Running Specific Program?

I’m testing using Remote Desktop Services and have a question.  Using Server 2012 RD.  I have a single Collection ‘RemoteApps’. That Collection has several programs.  I have business need to identify all the connections that are using ‘Program X’ and to logoff those connections.

I can see all the connections for collection 'RemoteApps', but not what program that is being run. Is there a way to identify which connections are running 'Program X'?

Thank you

Reconnect dialog on successful logoff in Remote Desktop Connection Manager, Windows 2008

need assistance with a very annoying problem.  recently, I have had issues with this little gem cropping up on the occasional logoff.  Now it is consistent, and I cannot find any way to get rid of the issue.  It essentially negates the benefits of logging off of a group of servers simultaneously because I have to go back and touch each cancel to finally disconnect.  And as a bonus, sometimes... just sometimes... I will click cancel and the dialog box will not go away and the session will not completely close from the client, leaving it greyed out and hung...

I have looked at all sorts of solutions but none have been pertinent to this situation and have focused on the server being connected to, and not on the client doing the connecting, and I am certain it is the client...  I have 2 hopper servers I use to connect to other servers in the environment, and the other server does not exhibit this behavior.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

 Please help me with the SSO for RDWeb. Here is my environement:

1. Cluster with 2 nodes (SRV1 and SRV2)-Hyper-V Server 2012 R2

2.  We have 3 Collections under RD Virtualization Host (Acc-Persistent VMs; IT-Perisistent VMs; Incd-Non-Persistent VMs)

3. Users are from all over the location but all computers are thin PC Windows 7 Embedded, all Virtual Machines are on the same Domain.

4. PGO is set to use Credential Delegation to TERMSRRV/*.inf.com

5. When User go to RDWeb and clicked on one of these 2 icons

6. Everything went smooth, no credential prompts until it gets to the Persistent Virtual Machine (Windows 7 Enterprise), then it asks for Authentication. The lock icon states" The identity of the remote computer was verified by using Kerberos."

Is it possible to manage an RDS collection from a different server if your broker goes down?

In server 2012 R2 RDS is it possible to manage the RDS collection created on the broker from a different server if your broker goes down?  We use round robin which is why we have the broker currently as a stand alone.  But if we loose the broker can we mange the collection from a different 2012 R2 server until we can being the broker back online?

Thanks,

Ryan

Internet Explorer 11 cause high CPU utilization on multiple sesstions

We are seeing IE11 use upwards of 25% of CPU on 2012 R2 RDS sessions.  The websites seem to very that cause this.  Some have Flash, some have Java but we will find this occur several times a day.  I might also mention when it occurs it is NOT all IE 11 instances.  It is usually just one or two instances.  One site that I have identified is, any product page from this site:

http://www.hivissupply.com/ (ex. http://www.hivissupply.com/gss-safety-8505-hivis-3-in-1-ripstop-utility-safety-parka.html).

I am seeing this on all hosts regardless of where the profile roams.  I was hoping maybe there was a tuning guide for Internet Explorer 11 on RDS or a best practice to maximize performance or to more efficiently run in a multi session environment.  Or if any of you are aware of this issue how I can resolve it.

Thank you for your help,

Ryan

Unable to login to Windows 2008 and Windows 2008 R2 servers with Network Level Authentication enabled

Hi,

I have servers running Windows 2008 and Windows 2008 R2.  When I enable Network Level authentication on those servers I'm unable to RDP to them with a domain account.  Local accounts and domain admin accounts work though.  I get the error message "The Local Security Authority cannot be contacted.  This could be due to an expiring password."  The password is not expired or being forced to change.  If I disable NLA I can login without any issues.

Any ideas?

Remote Desktop Web Gateway and multiple RDS Farms

I'm setting up a 2012R2 RDS farm that will include a Web Gateway, or possibly a Web Gateway cluster. In the end, I will end up having multiple RDS farms set up. Is it possible for a single RDS Web Gateway or Web Gateway cluster to be the web gateway for multiple RDS farms and route users to the appropriate farm based on their group membership, rather than having a separate Web Gateway or Web Gateway Cluster for each farm?

malicious RDP logons

Hi all.

I have one PC with only one user account on it. This PC is configured to accept remote desktop connections. This PC is 150 km away and teamviewer hangs on login, hence the RDP connection.

Last night I logged onto the PC to find 3 drives had been bitlocked :(  2 out of the 3 recovery files are in the recycle bin on one of the bitlocked drives (I found this by the properties of the .lnk files in the app data roaming folder)

After trawling through the event viewer I have noticed that many people have logged into the PC over the past few days from multiple countries except the usernames they provided are all over the place. (curt, test, test123, chandler, colin, admin, etc etc)

As a test I tried to log in using one of the usernames and the correct password and was denied.
How are they able to log into the PC by using those usernames that are not the username of the primary user account???

Can you differentiate between logoff types?

Hi,

I have posted this in the Windows Server Remote Desktop Services forum but my query relates to any implementation of RDS with both desktop and server O/S instances acting as the remote desktop target - If this is the incorrect forum please direct me to a more appropriate location.

I am wondering if it is possible to differentiate, from event log details, in much the same way you can distinguish logon types (Interactive/network/Unlock etc. etc.), between a remote desktop session log off actively initiated by a user versus a log off initiated by RDS in response to a connected idle session time-out being reached and versus a log off initiated by RDS in response to a disconnected session time-out being reached?

Thanks in anticipation,

Jo

Strange values for Idle and Disconnect Time in Server Manager - Session Collection

Hello,

I see strange behaviour for Idle Time and Disconnect Time in Server Manager Session Collections.
When a user connects to a Session Collection then there is no value for Disconnect Time and Idle Time. Thats ok.

But when disconnection it i get some that look like the first (top) blue box, which is normal behavior, however i also get several users on different servers that get the secon blue box (bottom) - how can they have an active session state, be disconnected and idle????

I have 19 RDSH in the collection and the issue is on every server, i have tried building new RDSH and using it - sam result, i've disabled alle GPO settings regarind Remote desktop, handeling all setting in the collection properties.

I have 2 RG GW, with Web access and HA RDCB on RDG's. All servers are Windows Server 2012 R2 VMs in Hyper-V.

UPD Missing on Server 2012 R2 RDS VDI

Hi guys,

Hope you can help.

We have the following issue.

We created a Hyper-v 2012 R2 VDI solution with UPD. When a user rdp to the RDS server, a vm does spin up and a user logs into a Win 8/Win 10 template vm, but there is no UPD created on the share.

We have checked file share permissions etc with no luck. Followed guides but with no luck. Everything is in place and seems correct.

On our RDS session based solution the users do get a UPD. Why not with VDI?

If anyone can maybe guide us into the correct direction it will be much appreciated.

Our environment:

Server 2012 R2 Hyper-v

Win 8/ WIn 10 template

UPD to a file share on the Connection Broker. Tried a dedicated file share aswell.

Server 2012 R2 Connection Broker

All of the above is vm's.

Thanks

I am sure this topic has been discussed many times from the Internet.  Some people suggested CRTL-ALT-END from the client, some suggested to turn off Presistent Bitmap Caching from the Experience tab under RDP, uninstall Powershell 2.0 etc...  None of this work for me.  Does anyone have a better recommendation?

Thanks,

Brian

Slow Icon loading on user logon.

So I have this issue where when a new user logs onto a device that has the software FUJI PACS Synapse installed, the Recycle Bin icon will appear, and about 10 seconds later the rest of their desktop icons appear. If I uninstalled FUJI PACS Synapse and have a new user login, then all the icons appear immediately. I have tried disabling this software on startup using msconfig to no avail. Anybody have an idea of what I can try to fix that, seems like it freezes explorer.exe or something for those 10 seconds before it lets it finish. Thank you.

SSO not working with RemoteApps

$

Hello Everybody,

I faced with very strange situation: trying to troubleshoot SSO for remoteApps on Windows Server 2012R2. Everything is installed and configured properly. I ran commands:

Import-module remotedesktop

Set-rdsessioncollectionconfiguration -collectionname "RemoteApps" -customrdpproperty "authentication level:i:0"

Set-rdsessioncollectionconfiguration -collectionname "RemoteApps" -customrdpproperty "alternate full address:s:remote.ccim.com"

Added <*.domainname.com> to the Allow Delegating Default Credentials policy and forced GPudate

Added the server name individually to the Allow Delegating Default Credentials policy

Checked and confirmed that the registry entry are updated as per the policy changes

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CredentialsDelegation]

"AllowDefaultCredentials"=dword:00000001

"ConcatenateDefaults_AllowDefault"=dword:00000001

"AllowDefCredentialsWhenNTLMOnly"=dword:00000001

"ConcatenateDefaults_AllowDefNTLMOnly"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CredentialsDelegation\AllowDefaultCredentials]

"1"="TERMSRV/<My Server1>"

"2"="TERMSRV/<My Server2>"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CredentialsDelegation\AllowDefCredentialsWhenNTLMOnly]

"1"="TERMSRV/<My Server1>"

"2"="TERMSRV/<My Server2>"

Made sure -  "Always prompt client for password upon connection" policy located in Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Security.  is not set to "Not Configured". Changed it to "Disable"

However, still situation: I login to remote app web page with my credential and try to launch let's say Word, logon window appears saying:

Your credentials did not work.

when I enter my credentials they do not work and it asks to enter it again.

At the same time, strange record appears in the event viewer:

New RemoteApp and Desktop connection (RDS01.domain.com) is started for user (esy8OkZAZ94BHhbY+3+KU95NykY=) without authenticated credentials

Could you please hint me what to do next and do I miss something?

UPD: I did some tests. When I logging to remote.domain.com from outside organisation, I enter credentials on the first login webpage. Then I try to launch Word, it asks again for credentials, I enter them and everything is working. When I go to terminal server and go to remote.domain.com I enter credentials on the first login webpage. Then I try to launch word, the windows with "Your credentials did not work" appears. Certificate is signed by CA and shown as OK in IE.

The user profile Service failed the logon

Dear all ,
my RDS server 2008 R2 I receive this error "The user profile Service failed the logon" . I use 10 of 16 GB RAM on server.

I see in perfmon the the registry quota is 40 % when I have no users connected on the server. I have a other server RDS a same configuration software and hardware and we have 40 % or 50 % in the registry quota when I have 40 users are connected.

Do you have an idea?

Thanks.
