Hi all,
I have tried implementing RDSH for Edge browser as it is supported in 2016 TP3 according to the post: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/rds/archive/2015/08/19/remote-desktop-services-in-windows-server-2016-technical-preview-3.aspx
But there is no how to...
So fully patched 2016 TP3, single server deployment, quickwizzard for RDSH.
There is no easy way to simply publish "Edge Browser" in RDSH. So I have tried publishing Explorer.exe and changing parameters to "microsoft-edge:" which launches the browser when logged on locally.
However when tried launching the app from via RDP (RDWeb) Win8.1U1 all I get is full white screen with: "you’ll need a new app to open this microsoft-edge"
So the questions is how exactly is Edge browser supported? And how exactly are we supposed to configure it?
Thank you very much for any ideas
Hello all,
I'm experiencing a weird problem that I can't wrap my mind around. I have a Session Collection with 10 servers, all running Server 2012 (not R2). This collection has been setup with User Profile Disks, stored on a central file server. I am storing ONLY the roaming profile settings and user registry data, as shown below.
We also use Group Policy to set IE trusted sites (Computer Configuration > Administrative Tools > Windows Components > Internet Explorer > Internet Control Panel > Security Page > Site to Zone Assignment List).
Occassionaly, a user's Trusted Sites will not work correctly. No sites are populated in IE. I can resolve the issue for that user by deleting their profile disk and allowing RDS to create a new one.
I don't understand why a User Profile Disk would be affecting the IE Trusted Sites list, especially considering we are using aComputer Configuration GPO setting, not a User Configuration setting. Does anyone know where I can look to understand what is happening?
Hello Everyone,
I have a user that is receiving and error saying this, "The destination folder has exceeded its storage quota. The rule will not work until you you delete some items from the destination folder."
Now my question is this only happens when they are setting up and new rule and all there other rules are working just fine.
Back ground on the system:
RDS environment.
Exchange server 2012 R2
Outlook 2013
Please let me know if anyone can help with this.
Thank you.
Hi. I have a standalone Windows 2012 Server Standard R2 that is not joined to a domain. It is used as a SQL server. We have had 2 developers in the past remote in to this server using RDP with out issue. We recently brought on a 3rd developer who also needs to remote into this server, however, it's my understanding that by default, only 2 users may remote in at one time.
I contacted Microsoft tech support and was told that I would need a 1-user (or device, but I opted for user) RDS CAL. I was also told that setup would be as simple as installing the licence in the RDS Licence Manager and thats it - 3 users would then be able to RDP into the server. This is not the case however.... We still face the same issue.
So I have the 1-user CAL for RDS installed to the Licence Manager. What else do I need to do to enable 3 users to connect at one time? All users are part of the Administrators group.
Thanks in advance for your input. Please let me know if you need more information.
I've deployed RDS 2012 in my environment and as such have the following servers/roles:
2x Connection Brokers
2x Session Hosts
1x Web Access
1x Remote Gateway
If our public URL we want users to "access RDS at" (which we have a wildcard cert for) will be https://remoteapps.domain.com,
then do we point that URL to the 1x Remote Gateway?
As for internal clients, how do they access RDS published applications? Would they point their browser to remoteapps.domain.com, or is there an internal web url they can direct to and does that exist on the Remote Gateway, the Web Access, or the Connection Broker? If Connection Brokers, then which one does their browser point to?
Hi,
I have created a infra in which i have DA environment. Also there is SCCM server in my infra. I have open all File sharing ports and port 3389 for Remote desktop on my SCCM server as well as on Client machine and DA server. THe problem i am facing is that
i am unable to take neither Remote of client from SCCM server nor able to share files from SCCM to CLient. But on the other hand i am able to ping computer from SCCM server. Also I have added SCCM server as Management server on DA server.
Also when I tried to take Remote from Client to SCCM, then Clint is able to take remote of SCCM server. I am not sure what is the issue which creating me problem in taking remote from SCCM server to client.
My DA server can take remote to CLient.
Thanks.
We wanted to set up a RDS License Server for Windows RDS CALs 2012. The Windows Server is installed with a KMS Server.
To activate the server no Problem. We did it on the activation- Web Site.
But as we wanted to activate the 10 RDS CALs we ´ve got an error Code 4095.
We tried to do it per phone (Clearing Center Munich). Same result.
The MS employee said it is probably because it is under 20x CALs and as the server is installed with a KMS Key, it should be done with a MAK Key.
Beside the Error Code a Link to a Web-site where it is suggested to install an Hot Fix. We did it. Same result.
We didn´t try to reinstall the server with the MAK as it is for a big company and it is not so easy to make such a change.
Is there another solution
Hi Everyone,
I got a strange issue with RDS environment, On one fine morning , we are not able to view the pooled managed collections under collections tree, however if we click on collection you can see it as unknown( below screenshot ). I am able to manage other pooled collection apart from one with 140 VMs with the help of PowerShell. Apart from this everything is running as it should be , however now we are not able to manage it and this is major problem that we are not able to manage settings.
This checked till now.
1. All Pooled Managed VDIs are showing unknown.
2. Only One Pooled Managed Collection having issue.
3. Collections are working and behaving normally, Only one Collection with 140 VMs having issue while updating the collection and rest of the collection are accessible and working fine from command line.
4. No changes in RDSCB SQL database, no job are pending to execute in DB as well.
5. No Major events related to VDI connection broker.
Getting Below error while managing with powershell.

I have a 2008 R2 server as a stand alone remote services server. It hosts applications on a website accessible inside our local networkand published on the Internet. Windows 7 computers accessing the webpage remotely on the Internet can run the published apps. Windows 8 and 10 cannot, a pop up error comes up during the connection after the ignition of the app, after the "connecting to %servername% window opens. Windows 7 works, Win 8 and 10 do not work on a PUBLIC networkBUT if I connect the Windows 8 computers to the WORK network (it is a domain computer) it can access the website and run the published app without error.
Apps work on Windows 8/10 computers on the "Domain networks" zone but not on the "Guest or public networks zone". I need to fix that.
Remote Desktop Connection works in the Public network zone regardless of Windows version. the remote connection problem is limited to RemoteApp connections via the web page.
if the remote computer connects to the domain's Cisco VPN before going to the website, the app will function. No error.
It looks to me the computers firewall or browser settings are blocking the app from running on win 8/10 in the PUBLIC connection zone, but the firewall allows something specific to run on the WORK connection zone. there must be a difference in the firewall setting for the PUBLIC zone or possibly the browser settings on the clients (Internet Explorer 11).
please help me pinpoint that setting. THANKS in advance.
Dear Experts,
I have a situation on my current RDS Windows 2008 R2 Environment ( 1 - Connection Broker/Web Acess, 4 - RD Session Host and 1 - License Server) where i need to hide the Configuration Tab which allows the Administrators to Choose the Source for Applications - RD Connection Broker or One\More Remote App Sources.
In my environment this option is set to An RD Connection Broker and FQDN of Connection broker Server is selected and working fine, but due to some security issues at the application level we were forced to add all Remote App users to the Administrators group on the RDS enviroment due to which this tab was visible even for the end users.
One of the user went to this tab and changed the configuration resulting in no application available for access.
So is there a way to hide this "Configuration" tab on RD Web Access page even for Administrators or for a particular AD Security group? Please share your thoughts.
My remote desktop connection suddenly stopped working in windows 10 to some computers. I can easily logon to a remote network and access the server etc.
However, on my LAN I have a laptop with Windows 8.1 who I suddenly cannot RDP to. I can connect from the laptop 8.1 back to the desktop.
Any other suggestions?
Hi All
Am I correct in thinking if the TS licensing server cannot be reached, RDS will utilise some type of temporary license?
If so for how long?
Thanks
Lea
We have an RDS cluster into which we expect a large influx of additional users.
Is it possible and acceptable to simply clone one of the existing RDS hsst servers with a different name and SID, then add it to the RDS farm??
Are there any special considerations, pitfalls, or 'gotchas' involved that we should plan for??
All the servers in the RDS farm are running Win2k12 R2, fully patched, on vSphere 5.5.
Thank you, Tom
