Hello, we have a 2012 Server R2 that we use a Terminal Server. Users are having problems printing to redirected printers(network printers seem ok). Sometimes it will work and other times it won't work at all or it will work until they log off then won't work after that. I have the Group Policy set to use easy print driver first which has always worked in the past and we install drivers for the printers that don't work well with Easy Print. I have tried changing the Group Policy, changed the Spool folder permissions, restart print spooler, restart the server but doesn't help. I do get the event entries below but a google search has lead to dead ends. This just started in the past 2 weeks so not sure what could have changed. Thanks for any help.

I have 4 physical servers in a 2012 R2 Remote Desktop Services deployment with a single collection of VMs. 3 servers are strictly RD Virtualization hosts, the other server has the RD Connection Broker, Gateway, Licensing, & Web Access roles. I want to migrate this servers roles to a new physical server while making no changes to the 3 Virtualization hosts. What are the best practices for making this happen? Any way to import the existing collection to the new server?
I have a 2008 server and 2008 terminal server. There is a GoDaddy certificate on the 2008 server for mail.domain.com
This has worked over the last year but we just added 2 new programs to TS and I get a remote app error "your remote desktop connection failed because the remote computer cannot be authenticated" on the 2 new apps. The old apps work. when I remove an older app and add back in then it gets the error also. Any ideas?
Hi Team,
We are facing the session disconnected issue in terminal licensing server, we are using window server 2012 standard edition with 200 per user license, but we are not able to login more than 105 user login.
Per server we can login only 15 user login and we have 7 host server and total users able to login only 105 into 200 licenses.
If you are adding one more server issue is same, user session is not increasing more than 105 login.
If you will findout any solution, please help me and update me on ramniwass@eliinfra.com
Thank You,
This morning two of six users are unable to RDC into TS. The "Please wait for local session manager" hangs. Only two users are getting this, all are using the same RDP methods and port. Event logs are showing 6005 and 6006 errors. All 6 users are members of RDP group in AD. On attempt to login with one user at console, it logs off immediately upon login with no events of note.
Hi,
I have a problem with a Windows 2012 R2 Farm. When I try to add a new RD Session Host to a collection , I receive: “Error - unable to retrieve the session collection properties”
I can create a new collection and add rdsh with no error, I can suppress one rdsh from a collection but it’s impossible to add one. Domain admins are part of all collection.
In powershell with add-rdsessionhost I receive the same errror.
I work for a big university in France and more than thousands user work on this farm.
I need help.
Have you an idea?
Hello,
I have some problems with a RD Gateway farm, the service become unresponsive with high cpu usage (>53%). And it stays like that, even if there are no users connected.
If I kill the tsgateway (in fact svchost.exe), and re-start the service it uses 2-3% of cpu and 11 MB of RAM with the same number of users.
The wildcard certificate is valid (checked locally on each servers).
The load in terms of users is not fantastic (30 users per gateway). The service uses a maximum of 35 MB RAM, and the max for the vcpu is 10% and average 3%.
The Servers are Under Windows server 2012 R2 with Hyper-v role, with 2 vcpu and 4000 MB of RAM. those vServers are dedicated to RD Gateway and RD Web role.
Does anyone see similar issue?

Ludovic H.
I have an accounting system on rds,
i used the rdweb to access the application, when click print, new window form open, but not focused.
does anyone face this problem some application, have anyone have solution?
Hello,
I'm looking for failover cluster with minimum of 2 nodes without SQL Server.
Server -1 Remote Desktop web , Remote Connection Broker, Remote Desktop Session host
Server - 2 Remote Desktop Web ,Remote Connection Broker, Remote Desktop Session host
How can I achieve Failover cluster here. So if Server 1 fails or down then still my users can access their desktop session without downtime.
these both servers are in VM on VMware, Please advice.
Regards, Thiyagu.
Do the Remote Desktop Session Host settings affect non session host servers? Ie does it affect all servers or just servers with the remote session host services role installed?
I'm asking because we have applied a time limit setting for connections that don't seem to be applied on our regular server 2012 R2 servers. The GPO is applied on the server (checked RSoP) but seem to have no effect to session time limits. Idle connections is not terminated altought they ought to be and so on.
Or do some connections override the Session Time Limit settings?
Good Day!
So i have that kind of environment
1) Two windows server 2012 r2 with terminal services role with created collection, both servers are part of it.
2) IP virtualization per session is up at those servers via local policy(because our domain controller is 2008 r2)
3) There are two static entries in dns, for example terminal_server_1 192.168.0.10 and terminal_server_2 192.168.0.11
So here is the trouble
If new session takes new ip address for example 192.168.0.12, static dns entry changes ip address for terminal_server_2 to 192.168.0.12
And after that users just cant connect to server collection.
Hi community,
I'm new on Windows Server 2012 (but not MS world) and I'm setting up a new system for remote access purpose.
We bought our 2 licenses for server 2012 R2 and 45 personnal RDS CALs (ESX with 2 CPus).
I setup everything (OS+RDS Cals) and we installed our software we wan't to share to our users.
As we previously was on Windows Srv 2003, we just want to setup "Remote Desktop" service without web access or service broker.
So now we have our server on AD 2008 like (Samba 4) without GPO for our host.
I've try many way to enable more than this 2 RDP slot without success (https://support.microsoft.com/fr-fr/kb/2833839 or via Local Policy). From the kb/2833839, I've an exception on ChangeMode().
My question is simple: Can we have more than 2 remote accesses without broker and all other stuff we don't want to use and if so, how can we do it.
Our RDS are correclty configured on our AD and are "green" on server side usign lismgr.
Thanks for your help
I currently have one Session Collection with two applications scoped to three AD user groups for a Windows Server 2012 RDS Session host.
I would like to create another collection on the same host for a separate set of apps that can be applied to a different set of user groups. Is this possible? When I go to create a Session Collection in Server manager for the host, it does not show up in the list of Session hosts. Am I doing something wrong?
When I navigate to Servers under Remote Desktop Services in server manager it takes a long time to populate. It states it is connecting to the connection broker. When I am in the Collections RemoteApps, I can add new remoteapp programs but it takes a very long time to save a new app. When I use the Get-RDRemoteApp command in PowerShell with eleveate privileges, it takes a very long time to respond and just hangs there. I am not seeing any errors in the system logs.
Has anyone had this issue before or any insight on what could be the issue?
Platform: Server 2012 r2
We have several VMware Virtual machines. All servers are Windows Server 2012 R2 Remote Desktop servers. Normal applications are installed like Office and we are using AppV packages to deploy applications like Navision etc.
We are using Automation Machine for deployment and we use VMware UEM for user settings.
The problem we have is intermittent unresponsiveness of one of the RDS servers . When this happens the servermanager application on the connection broker servers are no longer responding, and if we close and reopen the Servermanager we see that one of the servers state is “inaccessible”. New user sessions freeze during startup on the welcome screen. CRTL+ALT+END doesn’t work, logging in to the console doesn’t work.
At that point nobody can login on any RDS server. We also cannot control other RDS machines anymore because the whole collection is related to that not responding server. Which does not give us the option to see which users are logged in on that specific server so we cannot send a message to the user to logoff. The only solution then is to hard reboot the faulty RDS server.
We have searched windows event logs for some answers but we haven’t found any useful information.
1 – What causes random freezes of the RDS servers.
2 – How can we avoid and keep access to a working server manager
3 – When one RDS is not responding the connection broker should redirect users to another RDS instead of the faulty one.
Hello everybody!
i have a problema with print spooler in 2012 R2 environment.
RDS users (with disk profile) have connected printer with a 2012 print server. Sometimes printspooler seems to be blocked cause applications like Acrobat Reader DC gives an error no pages selected to print. Same user but different application (Foxit for examples) doesn't see any connected printers.
Tried many application settings but nothing resolved. After i have restarted print spooler, everything is back to work.
No events in application or system events. only in printservice/operational i got some error events:
event 221
source printservice
task enumerating printers
detail: Retrieving CSR cache information for printer \\xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx\M5035 failed, error code 0x2. See the event user data for context information.
event 812
source printservice
task Executing a file operation
detail: The print spooler failed to delete the file C:\Windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS\00009.SHD, error code 0x5. See the event user data for context information.
event 603
source printservice
task Client-side rendering
detail: The print spooler failed to reopen an existing printer connection because it could not read the configuration information from the registry key SIDxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx\Printers\Connections. The print spooler could not open the registry key. This can occur if the registry key is corrupt or missing, or if the registry recently became unavailable.
Hello,
At office, we have around 15 - 20 users that are enabled to use Terminal Services. Most of them will be using GP 2013 and Office 2010, they will be printing using network printers.
What I have been experiencing is, that around 3-4 users running GP 2013, our server begins to have a hard time handling the work. For what I've seen, most of the recommendations for a server this type, is lower than what we have.
SQL is installed in a separate server.
Hardware:
Server: Dell PowerEdge 1950
CPU: 2 x XEON 5130 @ 2.00 GHz
OS: Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard 64-bits
RAM: 32GB
Any ideas on what I can do? This issue is really bothersome when employees are out of office.
It's a 2012R2 server with win7 pooled virtual desktops. Disk usage of these desktops is somewhy high. They'd used all space at the volume and lost profile disks. After reboot and incrising that volume i've found that the vms where not rebooted but "saved". Users even said there were no reboot. After relogin they managed to work again except one.
I've restarted his vm in collection manualy but server manager still shows the session of this user. I can't disconnect it getting erros "Unable to disconnect session 147 on host.domain. WTS API failed". PS commands return errors too. Can i disconnect this session somehow or reboot of the server is the only option?
Windows Server 2008 R2 with Office 2010 Standard (Volume Licence)

We have the following problem:
If the terminal service is not installed works the mailmerge in Word fast (10 sec)
If the terminal service is installed works the mailmerge in Word very slow (4 min)
We start the mailmerge with a foxpro program. this is the only constellation where this problem occurs.
Why ?? Does anyone know the Problem and a solution?
